This is an all-day tour designed by a professional historian. It's purpose is twofold. Firstly, to allow visitors to extract the maximum value from their one-day Yorkshire Pass. Purchase of this special pass is by far and away the best way to enjoy historical York (for information about Yorkshire Pass please see the link below this text) because it allows entry to as many attractions as you can visit in one day. However most visitors do not have any idea about where the best places are, because so many are hidden and difficult to find - down lost alleyways and inside forgotten churches. This is actually the charm of York, that it contains so many hidden gems from two thousand years of history, and it's very sad that visitors usually only see barely ten per cent of what is on offer, so they waste ninety per cent of their money!

Yorbestguide, on the other hand, will be able to show you all of York's hidden treasures, and explain how each separate Roman, Viking, Norman, Medieval and Victorian site fits into the overall story of Britain itself. It is clear therefore that foreign visitors and school parties will benefit most from this altogether more refined and comprehensive tour, which seeks to make a day's historical education into a unique pleasure and a fun experience.

Charges are £20 for an adult and £10 per child, but this is a scheme intended mainly for large groups.

Your party should be of at least 20 people. The maximum is 50.

Please be aware that this is not a day of dry boring lectures. It is fully understood that day trippers and those on vacation want enjoyment. The aim of this tour is simply to increase your enjoyment. The essence of the day with Yorbestguide is to have fun, and enjoy learning about York's remarkable history along the way.

Your tour is exactly what I have been looking for, except that I am traveling on my own and this sounds like a group is necessary. There are some day trips offered from London, but I would prefer to spend one or two nights in York, and arrive by train. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. The dates that I am looking at are anytime between the 7th and 17th of December.

Best Regards,

The insideyork website says your minimum is 20 people per tour. We only have 4 senior adults in our group, one with impaired mobility (would like to rent a mobility scooter if possible), and would like a private guided day tour of York on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Do you provide this type of service or who would you recommend? We envision a 6 hour tour with a pick-up/drop-off at Middlethorpe Hall hotel. There would be a break for lunch/tea, so we would not need someone with us every minute. Thanks & Best Regards, Sally
