The Blue Bicycle is a charming restaurant with excellent service and beautiful decor.The prices were reasonable to pricey , but the food was delicious. Down stairs the decor is fantastic and if your lucky you'll get to squeeze into one of their tables in a little alcove in the wall. Reportedly this used to be an old Victorian Brothel and the curtains and alcoves leave nothing for the imagination.

Overall this is a high class restaurant,. Specializing in fish wich has a first class reputation within York.

I was taken for a meal at this restaurant recently and found it to be a delightful experience - good food, great atmosphere, tables not too close together. Admittedly I wasn't paying, but the quality of the food and wine we had was high.
I was advised that there would be plenty on my plate without ordering additional veg or salad, which proved to be the case.
We chose the dessert for sharing - samples of various desserts on one big plate - which defeated us before we were halfway through: best for 3 or even 4 people, probably, rather than just 2.
The bread served with a whole roasted garlic bulb was delicious. Just make sure your companions eat it too...
A good choice for a special meal, when you don't mind paying more a bit than usual, and you're not in a hurry.
