York City Screen Cinema

Picture House Cinema Logo

The central feature of a riverside regeneration project and the recipient of a Civic Trust Award in 2001, the City Screen Picturehouse is an inspired re-development of the old Yorkshire Herald press works building, marrying original architectural features with very contemporary design and style to stunning effect.

The cinema has three auditoria and the largest is equipped to the prestigious THX standard. All screens have modern and very comfortable seating.

Other features of our extensive premises include an impressive café-bar with a terrace overlooking the river, the Sky Lounge which affords panoramic views of the city, the Basement Bar which hosts diverse music, poetry and comedy events plus a regular film quiz night, the Gateway Internet Café and two art exhibition spaces.
